About the Driffield Group
The group has 4 committee members of which three (Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary) are elected every year at our Annual General meeting, which takes place on the usual 2nd Monday of the month in February. Our annual membership goes from February to February and is £10.00, there is a lower fee payable if you join later in the year.

We are a mixed group of people from all walks of life including farmers, care assistants, caterers, hgv drivers, shop assistants, office staff and of course a few who are retired and lead a very busy life now but find time to be with us. The average age of the group is around 54 but we are all young at heart. The Group is not a Dating Agency it is specifically there to encourage you to enjoy your life meet different people, find friends, and have an hectic social life. So if you are widowed, divorced or single this group is a starting point for you. During many of the events we have a few members will sometimes take a few photographs and put them on a photograph site on the internet for the other members to see, these are the links to the side of the page, where you can visit and view them. The Group is run by our elected Committee and our newsletter is published once a month. We have 2 monthly meetings the first one is The Planning meeting were everyone who has thoughts and ideas for an activity can meet and put it forward, or give it to our secretary Maggie (pictured right) to be discussed and get help to sort it out.
The second meeting is our usual Monthly meeting and is usually on the 2nd Monday of the month, and held at the Bell Hotel, Driffield, (photograph on left) starting 7.45pm for 8.00pm. All prospective members are met just in the entrance by our welcomer who is there to break the ice and offer help and support for the evening. This is also when we put forward the forthcoming events and ideas already discussed at the previous Planning meeting, produce an activity sheet for members, and start the organizing of the event, also where any other business for the month is discussed as well.
Over the year we organize a variety of events to suit all tastes and budgets, including parties, meals, walks, cinema, theatre, dances, (ballroom, disco, and dinner dances), music events (folk, country & western, pop concerts etc), holidays, tenpin bowling, quizzes and games nights.The Group Email Addresses for more information and any queries are these dssg.4u@googlemail.com and info@dssg.org.uk and the mobile number 07933711281. These are used by the group so there is a continuity with contacting someone. This is because the Committee is elected every year so their emails and numbers go with them.
